Our Wimberley Favorites | Things to Do, Eat & Explore in Wimberley, Texas
One of the questions we hear most often from guests is:
"What should we do while we're here?"
The truth is, there are a lot of good answers.
One of the things we love about staying in Wimberley is that every group does it a little differently.
Some guests spend their days exploring town, discovering local favorites, and enjoying the Hill Country.
Others find themselves perfectly content staying right here at The Gathering. Between the pool, pickleball, party barn, scavenger hunt, fire pits, wildlife, and lots of space to simply slow down, some guests discover that their favorite part of the trip happens without ever leaving the property.
Honestly, there's no wrong answer.
But if you're ready to explore, here are a few places we love.
If we had a friend staying at The Gathering for the weekend, these are some of the places we'd tell them not to miss.
Start With Coffee
A good day in Wimberley often starts with coffee - usually on the porch, or the Stargazing Stage (Great vantage point to enjoy the views, the deer, and the sunrise.) But if you are heading to town, we have a great selection to get your caffeine fix!
Sip! on the Square
A favorite for specialty coffee, smoothies, and people-watching from the heart of downtown with indoor and outdoor seating.
Blanco Brew
A local favorite with great coffee, food and a relaxed atmosphere that feels right at home in the Hill Country.
Cypress Creek Coffee House
A welcoming vibe and a great place to ease into the morning before exploring town.
Whether you're grabbing coffee to-go or lingering a little longer, mornings seem to move a little slower here.
Stroll, Browse, and Discover
One of our favorite ways to spend a few hours is simply wandering through town.
Market Days
If your visit lines up with Market Days (first Saturday of every month, March through December), don't miss it. It's one of the largest outdoor markets in Texas and a Wimberley tradition.
Ceremony Botanical Studio
Part plant shop, part inspiration. Even if you aren't shopping, it's worth a visit.
Kiss the Cook
Fun kitchen gadgets, gifts, and things you didn't know you needed.
My Happy Place
A colorful boutique filled with clothing, gifts, and treasures.
The Old Mill Store
A wonderful mix of Texas charm, gifts, home décor, and local finds.
Wall Street Western
If you're looking for authentic Texas style, this is a fun stop.
Junk Gypsy
A little outside town, but worth the drive. Creative, quirky, and uniquely Texas.
Get Outside
Some of Wimberley's best experiences happen outdoors.
Blue Hole Regional Park
Crystal-clear water, towering cypress trees, and one of the area's most beloved swimming spots.
Old Baldy Trail
A short climb with a rewarding view of the surrounding Hill Country.
Cypress Creek Nature Trail
A peaceful walk that feels worlds away from everyday life.
Two Moons Trail Rides
Experience the Texas Hill Country from horseback and enjoy a slower pace along the trail.
One of the things we love most about Wimberley is that nature is never very far away.
Good Food and Good Company
After a day of exploring, it's time to eat. For a small Hill Country town, Wimberley offers a surprisingly wide range of dining experiences. Whether you're craving comfort food, Italian, tacos, or a meal with a view, there's a good chance you'll find something everyone in your group can agree on.
Wimberley Café
A local institution known for comfort food and friendly service.
The Leaning Pear
One of our favorite recommendations for a relaxed meal with beautiful creekside views.
Chill's On The Creek
Great atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a perfect place to unwind.
Marco's Italian Restaurant
A longtime local favorite for Italian classics.
Neon Armadillo
Casual, fun, and a great option when you're craving tacos and a laid-back evening.
Truthfully, we've never met a meal that wasn't a little better when shared with good company.
Wimberley Evenings
Some of our favorite Wimberley moments happen as the day winds down.
Throughout the year you'll find live music at local venues, wineries, breweries, restaurants, and community events.
One of the best things about Wimberley is that evenings rarely feel rushed.
You might catch live music.
Take a sunset drive through the Hill Country.
Stroll through town after dinner.
Or simply enjoy one more conversation before heading back for the night.
Our Favorite Recommendation
We love sending guests out to explore Wimberley.
But one of our favorite recommendations is also the simplest.
Leave plenty of time unscheduled.
Because some of the best moments happen when you return to The Gathering.
Another cup of coffee on the porch watching deer cross the pasture.
A game of pickleball that lasts longer than expected.
A firepit conversation that nobody wants to end.
Looking up and realizing just how long it's been since you slowed down enough to notice them.
Wimberley is full of wonderful places.
But some of our favorite moments happen right here—when you look around and realize the people who matter most are all together, and there's nowhere else you'd rather be.
