Main House vs Cottage vs Entire Property: Which Stay Fits Your Group?
One of the things that makes The Gathering a little different is that there is more than one way to stay here.
Some groups need space for an extended family getaway. Some are planning a smaller trip and want the cozy charm of the Cottage. Others want the full experience with exclusive access to both homes and all amenities in a totally private setting.
That is why choosing the right stay matters.
To help you picture how everything fits together, here is a quick look at the layout of The Gathering.
(Map shown is a partial layout view and does not include all acreage beyond the pool area.)
Whether you are planning a family trip, a weekend with friends, a celebration, or a multi-generational getaway, here is a simple way to think through which choice may work best for your group.
You have three options:
At The Gathering, you can choose between the Main House, the Cottage, or the Entire Property.
Here is the simplest breakdown:
Main House — sleeps up to 16
Cottage — sleeps up to 6
Entire Property — sleeps up to 22
2 full RV hookups near the Main House offer even more flexibility
Each option gives guests access to a different version of The Gathering experience, depending on the size and shape of the stay.
The Main House: Best for large groups who want the heart of the experience
(Rear view of the Main house including pool, hot tub, pavilion, firepit, bocce ball, and stargazing stage.)
If you are traveling with a larger family or group and want access to the main shared spaces and signature amenities, the Main House is often the best fit.
With room for up to 16 guests, it works well for:
family vacations
friend getaways
multi-generational trips
milestone weekends
groups who want plenty of room to gather
The Main House offers the spacious, welcoming feel many groups are looking for when they want everyone together under one roof, with space to gather, spread out, and enjoy the kind of stay that feels easy for all ages.
The Main House may be right for you if…
you want room for a larger group
you want the main gathering spaces to be the center of the stay
your trip is focused on shared meals, time together, and enjoying the property
you want a stay that feels spacious, social, and experience-rich
someone in your group would appreciate mobility-friendly features and easier access
The Cottage: Best for smaller stays with cozy charm
Not every trip needs the full scale of the Main House.
The Cottage, which sleeps up to 6 guests, is a great fit for couples, smaller family stays, girls’ weekends, or guests who want a quieter, more tucked-away experience while still enjoying part of what makes The Gathering so special.
It offers its own kind of charm and is ideal for groups that want quality time together without needing a larger footprint.
The Cottage may be right for you if…
your group is smaller
you want something warm, easy, and comfortable
you are planning a close-family getaway or weekend with friends
you like the idea of a more intimate stay
The Entire Property: Best for the full Gathering experience
If you want the most space, the most flexibility, and the ability to keep more of your group together in one place, the Entire Property is the best fit.
This option includes both the Main House and the Cottage and sleeps up to 22 guests total.
For some groups, this is the easiest and most comfortable choice — especially when you have multiple generations, a special occasion, or simply more people you want close by. And the 2 full RV hookups open up even more accommodation options.
The Entire Property is especially well suited for:
family reunions
multi-generational getaways
milestone birthdays
anniversary weekends
graduation gatherings
micro weddings
(Hosting events with additional invited guests does require approval and may incur an additional event fee.)
The Entire Property may be right for you if…
you want the most room and flexibility
your group includes multiple households or generations
you want to celebrate something special while staying together
you want the full experience with exclusive access to the entire 12 acre property
How to decide which stay fits best
If you are not sure which option is right, these questions usually help:
How many guests are staying overnight? This is usually the easiest place to start.
Do you want everyone in one main shared space, or would two homes work better? Some groups love having a little separation while still staying connected.
Is this a simple getaway, or are you celebrating something? If you are interested in hosting an event with extra invited guests, booking the Entire Property is required.
Do accessibility needs or comfort considerations matter for your group? If so, it can help to think not just about guest count, but also about layout and ease.
Would RV hookups be helpful? The 2 full RV hookups can be added to the Main House or Entire Property to make it easier to keep more family close by.
Best stay options for family getaways, celebrations, and group trips
One of the reasons guests love The Gathering is that it doesn’t force every stay into one shape.
Some trips are big and lively. Some are smaller and quieter. Some are about reconnecting. Some are about celebrating. Some are simply about finally finding time to be together. That flexibility is part of what makes the property work so well.
Either way, the goal is the same: finding the option that gives your group the right mix of comfort, togetherness, and room to enjoy the time here.
The best choice usually comes down to your group size, your plans, and how you want the stay to feel.
